1. Introduction
SelecTool SW is a WEB based application for unit selection from Dadanco's product range based on user's input parameters.
The application combines:
2. Run procedure
To run the SelecTool SW the user must:
3. Options
SelecTool provides an introductory on-line documentation and several selection options:
Operating manual
The manual provides procedures of how to run the SelecTool SW with input and output parameters used. It is very similar to explanations presented here but it has a more detailed structure.
Nomenclature/Legend
The nomenclature is given in the table below. It combines the symbols used in input and output forms/tables.
| h | specific enthalpy |
| hfg | latent heat of vapourisation of water = 2450kJ/kg |

| Pa, kPa | Pascal, kilopascal |
| q | room load or unit capacity, W |
| ql | room latent load or unit latent capacity, W |
| qs | room sensible load or unit sensible capacity, W |
| qtot | room total load or unit total capacity, W |
| QPA | primary air quantity, L/s |

| SA | supply air |
| SCHW | secondary chilled water (F=flow; R=return) |
| tPA | primary air temperature, °C |
| tRA | average room temperature, °C |
| tSA | average supply air temperature, °C |

Previous Selections
This option provides a list of all unit type selections that have been completed in the past by the user:
The user can select the date as a database search parameter.
By selecting any of the above unit type selections the user gets a list of specified selection types for a chosen period with the following parameters: date, customer, project and zone names.
By clicking on a particular zone the selection input and output parameters for that zone selection are listed.
Multiple Unit Input Form
This form provides data fields as inputs with their range (if applicable) and a note "required" or "optional" to indicate whether or not the value must be entered/selected.
There are two types of inputs:
A form with the following group input parameters is displayed first:
With the above inputs entered the user is required to submit the form for calculation of the zone/room dew point temperature from room air parameters (temperature and humidity). This step is important since the calculated dew point temperature is related to the value of the primary air dry bulb temperature which needs to be entered during the next stage. If selected tPA is lower than the calculated room air dew point temperature, primary air plenum insulation is required to avoid condensation.
Once the dew point temperature is calculated the user gets an extended input parameter form with all already entered parameters displayed, the calculated dew point temperature displayed in a read-only format and empty fields for additional input parameters to be entered (Note: the user can always type in the new room/zone air temperature and/or humidity values and submit the input parameter form which will cause a dew point temperature re-calculation during the selection process):
Only allowed combinations of several unit types with different number of units can be selected per one run.
If a single unit type is selected and the number of units per zone is entered as "1" the selection results will be for a single unit.
The user can clear the typed input parameters using the "Clear" button at any time during selections but only parameters entered before submission will be cleared; default values and parameters already calculated during previous submissions cannot be cleared using "Clear" button but can always be changed by new typing/selecting.
Once the input form is submitted the server database program starts calculations and the user soon gets a list of selections. Desired selections can be marked for permanent saving by clicking on a button next to each selection. All selections can be saved by clicking on a "save all" button. If no selection is marked nothing will be saved. The user will be warned about the maximum number of selections that can be saved (i.e. 100) to avoid saving an extremely large number of selections. Once the selections for saving are marked (if any) the user will select between "Save" and "No save" buttons and will submit "Save"/"No save" selections. If neither "Save" nor "No save" buttons are selected selections will not be kept in the database.
This form provides the following data fields as inputs with their range and a required/optional note:
The same procedure for the dew point temperature calculation is done here as described for the multiple unit selection. Then an extended input parameter form with the additional input parameters is obtained:
The rules for form "clear" and selection "save" procedures are also applicable here as described for the multiple unit selection.
Camel File Selection
By choosing this option the user will be prompted to specify the Camel file that needs to be uploaded to the server. If the file is in a regular Camel format the user will get a list of external and internal zones with the following parameters found in the file and/or calculated from file parameters so that comparison of parameters found in the file and displayed can be done before zone selection process continues:
The selection process starts by clicking on a certain zone name. The program provides an input form, the same as that in the multiple unit selection, with Camel file parameters already entered, room air dew point temperature calculated and primary air temperature and relative humidity suggested. The user will need to enter other required parameters and to follow the same procedures as those in the multiple unit selection.
Camel Form Selection
If the user wants to use the Camel hard copy for unit selections the first level Camel input form will need to be filled in with the customer/project name and number of internal and external zones.
The second level Camel input form will then be provided for entering the values of the same parameters mentioned in the above Camel file internal/external zone parameter list.
The selection will then follow procedures mentioned in the Camel file and multiple unit selection process.
Induction Diffuser Input Form
This form provides the following data fields as inputs with their range (if applicable) and a note required or optional (if the range is wrong or empty the user will be warned to select the appropriate value(s)):
The same procedure for the dew point temperature calculation is done here as described for the multiple unit selection. Then an extended input parameter form with the additional input parameters is obtained:
The rules for form "clear" and selection "save" procedures are also applicable here as described for the multiple unit selection.
